Arsenal are still hopeful of finalising a deal to sign Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres in time for the start of their pre-season tour, despite a report in Portugal throwing the move into doubt.
Gyokeres has even given up £1.7m in wages in order to sign for Arsenal, although Sporting CP are standing firm, with Club President Frederico Varandas saying: “If they don’t want to pay Viktor’s fair market value, we’ll be very comfortable with that for the next three years.
Arsenal are working to land Gyokeres and have a five-year deal prepared, subject to the clubs reaching an agreement over a fee.
Beyond Arsenal, Goldbridge expanded the discussion to the broader Premier League transfer market.
