Unless the governor or the U.S. Supreme Court grants him a last-minute reprieve, Brad Sigmon, 67, will be the first person to die by firing squad in the U.S. since 2010 — and just the fourth since the death penalty resumed in the U.S. 49 years ago.

Brad Sigmon, 67, convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend's parents in 2001, is scheduled to be executed on March 7.

A man is set to face execution by firing squad in South Carolina later this week. Brad Keith Sigmon, 76, was sentenced to death back in 2002 for the murders of Gladys and David Larke. It was determined they were killed with a baseball bat.
