The show did get renewed for an eighth season (YAY!) but…it’ll be its last (not yay). Starz announced in January that it’ll be wrapping up the Outlander story with season 8, which means the network will figure out how to end the show without knowing how the book series ends, à la Game of Thrones (here’s hoping they pull off a better ending though.)

Outlander Season 7 Part 2 tackles the remaining half of the seaon, aka Episodes 9-16. Outlander Season 7 Episode 16 “A Hundred Thousand Angels” will be the season finale. Outlander’ s seventh season was based on Diana Gabaldon’s seventh book in her Outlander series, An Echo in the Bone. Season eight is supposed to be an adaptation of her eighth novel, Written in My Own Heart’s Blood. Gabaldon just finished the series’s ninth book, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone. She is supposed to be working on her tenth book.
