The mayor’s remarks came a day after Trump’s Department of Justice sued the city, saying its sanctuary law has hindered the federal government’s ability to combat "a crisis of illegal immigration."

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is expected to speak at City Hall on Tuesday morning, a day after the Department of Justice filed a lawsuit claiming that the city's sanctuary policies are illegal and "interfere with and discriminate against the Federal Government's enforcement of federal immigration law.

The Justice Department has sued the city of Los Angeles, Mayor Karen Bass and the LA City Council over its sanctuary city policies, which the DOJ claims hamper the president’s crackdown on immigration.
