The South Carolina Forestry Commission has lifted the statewide burning ban for all but two counties in South Carolina. Georgetown County and Horry County will remain under the burning ban until further notice.

The Taylor County Commissioners Court met Tuesday afternoon in a special meeting to consider adopting a burn ban.

The heightened risk of fire in Itawamba County led to the institution of a burn ban. The ban started on Saturday, March 1 and runs through March 19.

During Tuesday night’s regularly scheduled Horry County Council meeting, a county official said folks have broken the state burn ban since it’s been implemented

Young County judge issues burn ban

The Benton County Fire Marshal Lonnie Harrell issued a 24-hour countywide burn ban on Monday, prohibiting all outdoor, open burning for the duration of the ban. Harrell said he issued the ban because of the weather conditions over the past few days.
