The course’s self-paced lessons were designed to provide participants a basic understanding of the Python programing language and to take them from zero to Python in a matter of hours.

Python is easy to learn, is a good fit for your first thing, and while I don't know much about your second thing, if there's a Python API it is probably a good fit there too.
