The Dallas Cowboys say offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer has agreed on a deal to become the storied franchise’s next coach.

The Dallas Cowboys are going with an in-house candidate to replace head coach Mike McCarthy. They are hiring offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer for that role.

The Cowboys' defensive interior has been a sore spot for awhile now. Teams ran all over Dallas early in the season, and recent draft picks have busted in this spot. Addressing it is a must because the rest of the defense has the ingredients to be strong. ( Matt Eberflus is the reported top candidate to be the Cowboys' defensive coordinator.)

Now that Brian Schottenheimer is the Dallas Cowboys head coach, there's one question many fans are asking: Will he call the plays?  It's an important question to ask, as it strongly impacts the assessment we can have of the decision to make Schottenheimer head coach.
