If Zohran Mamdani wins the New York City mayoral election in November, he may discover what his predecessors did — mayoralty is a graveyard for political careers.

A new independent expenditure group named “New Yorkers for a Better Future Mayor 25” is launching a campaign against Mamdani, with a plan to raise around $20 million, according to a person helping organize the committee.
