Former Bears head coach Matt Eberflus is closing in on a deal to join the Dallas Cowboys as defensive coordinator, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports the Cowboys are finalizing a deal with Eberflus to take on DC responsibilities as expected. He adds that Nick Sorensen is also nearing a deal to become the team’s new ST coordinator. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network was the first to report the latter hire was expected.

Andre Curtis, Dave Borgonzi and Aaron Whitecotton are slated to work closely with DC Matt Eberflus after joining Dallas’ staff.

In 2025 the Cowboys have brought in Matt Eberflus to lead the defense. Like Richard, Eberflus has a particular brand of football he prefers and populates his roster accordingly.
