Good news for the San Jose Sharks. Injured goaltender Vitek Vanecek has recovered and has resumed practicing. However, the goaltender is not scheduled to be in the lineup for the time being.
Vanecek (face) was sent to AHL San Jose on Wednesday for a conditioning stint. Vanecek hasn't played between the pipes since Dec. 14, so this will give him a chance to shake off the rust before playing for the Sharks.
The most significant player in a contract year is Granlund, the Sharks’ No. 1 center right now who leads the team with 44 points in 51 games, plays in all situations and leads all forwards in average time on ice (20:52).
Six weeks after he suffered a fractured cheekbone, goalie Vitek Vanecek appears to be getting close to a return as he’s been skating with the Sharks in recent days and, per coach Ryan Warsofsky, is now considered day-to-day,
Sharks starting goalie Alexandar Georgiev, in a shaky performance, was pulled at the 3:01 mark of the second period after allowing four goals on 15 shots. Yaroslav Askarov came on in relief and but did not fare much better, as he allowed three goals on 16 shots.
