Five minutes into the third period of a lifeless game on Tuesday night, Devils captain Nico Hischier turned around to play the puck going up the boards when Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk leveled him.

On Tuesday, tensions boiled over once again in the NHL as the Florida Panthers took on the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center. Panthers’ star Matthew Tkachuk found himself locked into a chokehold by a Devils star after he landed a massive hit on Nico Hischier.

NEWARK, N.J. -- Spencer Knight made 26 saves, helping the Florida Panthers to a 2-1 shootout win against the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center on Tuesday. Jesper Boqvist scored for the Panthers (26-16-3), who had lost two straight and three of four. They lost 4-3 at the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday.

Tensions boiled over Tuesday night at Prudential Center as the Florida Panthers defeated the New Jersey Devils 2-1 in a shootout.

New Jersey hosts the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers on Tuesday night at Prudential Center. Puck drop is 7:38 p.m. ET. The game will feature the club's annual Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Night.
