You can now add contacts within the WhatsApp app instead of having to add their details to your phone's contact list.

To add an existing group to a WhatsApp community, you must be an admin of that group. When you create a new community, WhatsApp does not notify your contacts.

The chat app will let you upload contacts directly to WhatsApp itself, and eventually allow for adding contacts by username.
