For speedrunners, make a stone pickaxe or 20 and mine your way down to the optimal level. Then, continue using the stone pickaxe to strip mine--mine in straight lines--until you find Diamond ore.

Use the tools- there are online tools available to help locate geodes using the World Seed. Mine carefully- use a Pickaxe to mine fully grown Amethyst Clusters for the maximum shards.
