You can add friends by using the Nintendo Switch App on a smartphone. Instead of reading out your Friend Code, you can get them to scan your QR code, or you can scan theirs.

To add a friend, first go to a user’s profile page on your Nintendo Switch 2 - double tap their icon in the Home Menu or select them with the controller.

Nintendo confirmed that the Switch 2 will still use friend codes, but the Nintendo Switch phone app will have an alternative way to add your friends.
