A privilege-escalation vulnerability Microsoft’s Azure Functions cloud container feature could ultimately allow a user to escape the container, according to researchers.

Microsoft has revealed more on the custom-built security chip it deploys across every Azure server, aiming to counter what it calls a cybercrime “pandemic” now costing $10 trillion annually.

Security measures put in place by the company ensured that the four vulnerabilities “did not result in any material impact to Azure services or infrastructure,” Microsoft said.

Two cloud development services -- Azure Functions and Azure App Service -- are now available on Azure Stack, which brings cloud functionality to on-premises, hybrid implementations.
