US President Donald Trump said Chinese leader Xi Jinping has agreed to restart the flow of crucial rare earth materials, after announcing a new round of US-China trade talks will be held in London on Monday.

China has agreed to fast-track approvals for the shipment of rare earth minerals to the United States and some European Union nations.

The comments mark progress on matters that have vexed China's relationship with the European Union over the past year.
