An incident where an unauthorized user gained access to Harrisburg International Airport’s public address system could have been much worse, a security expert said.

Kelowna International Airport says it is investigating after its public announcement and flight information display systems were hacked by a third party on Tuesday. Victoria International Airport reported a similar incident.

At least four North American airports experienced disruptions on Tuesday when unauthorized pro-Palestinian messages praising Hamas were broadcast. Messages also targeted President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

A similar situation also happened at the Victoria International Airport. Staff there said an unauthorized audio message was broadcast due to a 'cloud-based software issue.'

Harrisburg International Airport shut off its intercom after someone made a “Free Palestine” message over it Tuesday evening, an airport spokesperson
