If Roblox users want to chat on the online gaming platform, they’ll soon have to verify their age by providing a government ID or by letting an artificial intelligence age estimation tool photograph their face.
Roblox has faced criticism for allowing youngsters to access inappropriate content and communicate with adults. In March, the company's chief executive Dave Baszucki told the BBC that parents who were worried about the service "should not let their children be on Roblox".
Roblox is rolling out facial age checks and new chat limits to keep adult conversations separated from kids on its platform.
Texas sues Roblox, alleging it enabled child exploitation and misled parents about online safety. Roblox denies the claims.
