Forecasters warned Southern California could see a “life-threatening, destructive” windstorm this week, as powerful gusts and dropped humidity levels raise the risk for wildfires in parched areas still recovering from a recent destructive blaze.

A wildfire broke out in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles on Tuesday, January 7, amid “strong, damaging, and potentially life-threatening” winds in the region.Footage filmed and posted to X by user @JJRedickMuse shows the wildfire as viewed from the Woodland Hills area of the city on Tuesday.

The Palisades, Eaton and Hurst fires are threatening homes, as strong winds, low humidity and dry vegetation help the blazes spread, fire officials said.

The Palisades fire, Pasadena's Eaton fire and the Hurst fire are burning uncontrollably in the greater Los Angeles area, leaving 5 dead and prompting thousands to evacuate.

Southern California suffered through multiple massive fires, with thousands escaping their homes and two deaths reported. It's expected to get worse.
