Batch of Wichita Falls mosquitoes tests positive for West Nile virus
The positive test group came from Wichita Falls’ Mosquito Zone 17, which is located in east central Wichita Falls. There are no positive human cases of West Nile Virus in Wichita Falls at this time; however, anyone with both flu-like symptoms and a mosquito bite are encouraged to contact their healthcare provider.
Wichita Falls had gone nine years without a case of human West Nile virus prior to this summer. “Having 10 is unusual, but it’s pervasive across the state,” Fagan said.
