Ukrainian President Zelensky accused Russia of delaying peace talks to prolong its invasion, while US President Trump called his recent phone conversation with Putin a “breakthrough” despite no ceasefire agreement.
President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine said that if President Trump attended the talks, it would put pressure on Russia’s leader, Vladimir V. Putin, to meet face-to-face.
Russian officials have already been preparing for Putin to reject the meeting, with Moscow claiming a sit-down with Zelensky would only amount to “pure spectacle.”
