The Green Bay Packers signed former Auburn defensive back Jaylin Simpson on Monday, the NFL team announced. Less than two weeks ago, Simpson was on the New York Jets’ injured reserve with a hamstring injury.

Jacksonville selected a pair of safeties in the NFL Draft, bagging both Caleb Ransaw and Rayuan Lane, so perhaps Savage's days in Duval really are coming to a close. We'll see if the Jaguars opt to cut ties with him before the regular season begins.

The safety had a tryout with Green Bay last Wednesday. Simpson, who was dealing with a hamstring injury, was waived from injured reserve with a settlement by the Jets in early August before trying out for the Texans less than a week later.

The team also made a series of roster moves. Green Bay signed defensive lineman Devonte O’Malley and safety Jaylin Simpson, released cornerback Garrett Hollis Jr and waived defensive lineman Keith Randolph with an injury designation. The Packers will host Seattle in pre-season action on Saturday afternoon.
