Stephenson had made his return from Tommy John surgery in late May but his return was short lived as he was placed on the 15-day injured list with right biceps inflammation and a stretched nerve. Stephenson was shifted to the 60-day injured list to open up a roster spot on July 24 and began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake on August 14.
The offense has been disappointing all year. It is averaging 4.2 runs per game, which ranks in the bottom half of the league. Although former All-Stars Marcell Ozuna and Ozzie Albies have underperformed, the Braves have been hurt recently by the unavailability of Austin Riley.
